This Girl Can: Christ Church offers free sports to girls for a week

Canterbury Christ Church Sport are offering a week of free sport to female students as part of the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign.

All social sport will be free for females between 20th – 26th November.

The This Girl Can campaign is hoping to encourage female participation in sport after research showed that gender has an important effect on levels of physical activity.

41.7% of men play sport at least once a week, compared to about 31.6% of women.

Women’s basketball captain and CCCU Sports Ambassador Eftychia Panayiotou is a big fan of the campaign.

She said: “This Girl Can is an amazing opportunity to inspire and encourage women to exercise and overcome the fear of judgement.

“I am excited to see more women participating in different types of exercise and sport, to love it and never stop.

“Christ Church Sport are offering a great opportunity to continue this work by promoting fun and free sessions in sport and fitness.”

Classes include an introduction to weight training as well as weight lifting, with no experience needed.
