BUCS Weekly sports round up: BUCS is back.

Wednesday marked the first round of BUCS fixtures and Christ Church did not fail to disappoint with impressive wins.

Women’s Football 

The Women’s football first team beat Royal Holloway 9-0 in a cracking game. Goals came from: Danni Wheeler (4),Chloe Woolaway (2), Maddy Chapman (1),  Jaidene Browne (1) and lastly on her debut for C4 Beth Armitage (1).

A big mention was given to goalkeeper Nicole Pepper who pulled off some brilliant saves.

Women’s football president Saraya Phillips after the game said: “What a brilliant start to the season for the girls. Let the winning streak continue.”

CCCU football teams impressed in their opening fixtures

Men’s Football

The Men’s football teams also produced great opening performances with wins by all four teams.

The first team thrashed Middlesex 1s 6-0. It was a slightly tighter affair in the 2’s game with them beating Hertfordshire 2’s 2-1 after being a goal down.

Local rivals Kent (2nd team) were outclassed by the 3rd team with the scoreline ending 6-2.

The 4s also won 3-2 against Queen Mary

 

Men’s Hockey

The 1st team lost to Cardiff by the scoreline 7-2

The second team won emphatically 8-0 against LSE 3s

 

Women’s Hockey 

Women’s Hockey 1s beat UKC  4-1 convincingly to have the bragging rights with goals from Charlotte Andrews, Laura Buttimer (C) (2) and Alice Brett.  The 2’s lost 8-0 to Kings GKT.

Men’s cricket 

On Sunday the 1st team lost to Canterbury by 16 runs. But then beat Sturry by 78 runs. One wicket is all that separated the 2s and Gravesend, but it was enough to get the 2s over the line. The 3s won against UKC 2s by two wickets

Womens  Netball 
The Netball 2s won 53-13 against London met. While the 3s won 37-27 against London South Bank.

Netball 4s vs Greenwich 3rds ended 17-11

Men’s Badminton
Men’s Badminton 1’s won 6 – 2 against Oriental and African School London.
Men’s Basketball 
The Basketball team beat 83-40 against Richmond.
Mens Rugby 
The Men’s team had a mix of results with the 1s losing 29-15. The 2s and 3s though both got wins with socres of 26-5 and 57-5.
